Are you in search of the best shampoo and conditioner for your hair?
I’ve been highlighting, bleaching, and coloring my hair for more than a decade. I’ve always had long, straight hair and I was always trying out different shampoos and conditioner to keep my hair smooth and healthy. Because of all the coloring and bleaching, my hair used to be very dry. Here is a list of the shampoos and conditioners that I’ve tried and loved, thought were mediocre, and thought I would never buy again. Hopefully this list can help you narrow down your selection process when you choose your next shampoo and conditioner. And I sincerely hope that my recommendations will keep your locks looking healthy and beautiful!
- LOVED IT!
My favorite shampoo and conditioner of all time is by Matrix. Before I colored my hair purple and my hair was just brown with highlights, I used Matrix Total Results Sleek. It worked perfectly for my naturally straight hair. Before using this product, I couldn’t comb through my hair while washing it in the shower or after shower without detangler or leave in conditioner. But as soon as I used this product, I felt the difference right away. I could actually run my fingers through my hair in the shower! After using this line for a couple months, even my hairstylist noticed a difference. She said that there was a huge change in my hair, and that my hair was healthier and smoother. I can tell you honestly that I haven’t noticed a single split-end. I’ve tried other high end brands after using this Matrix Total Results line, and I ended up returning them and repurchasing these. (I always buy my high-end shampoo and conditioner at Ulta with their $3.50 off coupon. They have an amazing return policy. You can return products, even if they have been used a lot, within their time period for any reason). If you have long hair, dry hair, or unmanageable hair and are looking for haircare line to make your hair smooth and sleek, this is it for you.
Just a couple months ago, I got more sections of my hair bleached and died it fuschia. When the fuschia faded out, I died it deep purple. I needed to find a shampoo and conditioner that would protect my hair color and make it last as long as possible. I’ve read good reviews and recommendations for Joico colored hair line, but Joico shampoo and conditioner did not smell good on me. It smelled chemical-like, and it made my hair feel greasy within the first two hours of washing. I don’t have oily skin and I’ve never had the problem of having my head and hair turn greasy, but since that happened, I ended up returning Joico and decided to try the color care line from my favorite brand, Matrix. The color care line was just as smooth, hydrating, and nourishing as the Matrix Total Results Sleek line. I highly recommend this line for seriously color-treated hair.
Pantene, Herbal Essence, Dove, Aveeno, and Loreal- Like I said before, I have long hair, and I have a lot of it too. So I had to use almost an entire handful of conditioner from these lines to get my hair manageable enough to run my fingers through them. But my hair still felt dry and looked frizzy. These products didn’t really protect my hair from all the chemical processes.
- Didn’t work for me
OGX Argan Oil of Morocco – loved the smell but it didn’t moisturize my hair, not even as good as Pantene and Dove
OGX Brazilian Keratin Therapy – sticky and gooey. It didn’t moisturize my hair.
Joico- I don’t have oily skin or oily scalp. But Joico Violet color care shampoo and conditioner made my scalp feel greasy and oily within a couple hours of using the product. AND it’s expensive.
